Cambridge 30 Redruth 0 match abandoned at half-time
Redruth
The under 13′s played their first game of the season on Sunday against Bodmin. This was the first time we had played against them as they are a new squad this year. The team played well as a unit and run in a number of tries against a brave team, who put in some good tackles but were not as well organised as the Reds. I am sure that once they have got a few games under their belt, they will provide stiff opposition for plenty of teams.
Reds tries scored by Steve Trenoweth,Dirk Moodie,Ryan Thomas,Kieran Trewin, Kieran Young,Ben Hocking and Ollie Bryant who also kicked some excellent conversions.
The game was refereed by Kevin Williams, who did an excellent job and we look forward to him taking on more of our games this year.
Thanks to the Bodmin coach and his boys for meeting the fixture, and to Liam,Joe,Boran, Dan E, Jake and Kieran Y who showed good sportsmanship, and helped Bodmin out with players to keep the game going.
On Saturday we will be playing Truro School who are a well organised side and promise to be very stiff opposition. The fixture against Bude is cancelled.

The under 14s travelled to Bodmin, for their first game of the season (couldn’t you tell by the weather ) . The Reds starting off fairly slow, even a bit shaky and took their time getting the first score . Once they had, they started to settle and took control of the game .Bodmin didn’t let their heads go down and kept pushing the Reds to the very end of the game, final score 0/43
Our Thanks to Bodmin for a good game and excellent hospitality.

Well folks not a lot of good things to start this week
Can I just remind all parents of our Under 7′s and 8′s that I need your childs registration forms and money by
Friday 5th October at the latest to enable your child to be able to play in the opening fixture against Penzance on the 7th.
At present we have had 25 players training but only 16 players have registered, and I can only pick the regestered players to play.
Thanks for your support,
Chris Sidwell.

The Development game played on Sunday afternoon was abandoned after 55 minutes following a serious injury to Bay scrum half Karl Martin. With Redruth leading 7 – 0, Karl caught a high ball on his own line and appeared to have caused damage to ligaments, and it is is hoped nothing worse. After a lengthy hold up, the game was abandoned by referee Treve Dunstan and an ambulance called. Thanks to Ricky Pellow, who donned Bay’s No 10 shirt for bringing his side up for this friendly, with the watching Richard Carroll taking a keen interest.
For the record, Redruth took the lead with a Matt Bowden try direct from the kick off after only 15 seconds, one of the quickest ever seen at the Recreation Ground, and converted by Grant Thirlby.
Redruth – Churcher, Bowden, Peters, Kenward, Pedley, G Thirlby, Simmons; Jacques, Job, Lutey, Corin, Fox, Fuca, Morgan, Pascoe. Reps – Williams, Douch, B Rule, Greening, Clift, Taberer,

In a disastrous second half display when they shipped 33 points Redruth collapsed to their first defeat for 9 months at sunny Southend by 7 tries to 4.
Playing with the breeze on a bright day, Redruth led from the 9th minute until the stroke of half time when Chris Vaughn

The vouchers can be deposited in the Tesco collection box in the main clubhouse or alternatively you can give them to your team coach or myself.

Thank you in advance for your help with this
Some bad news on the injury front, reports David Penberthy. Hooker Sam Harrison has broken his thumb and will be out of action for approximately 4-6 weeks. Sam sustained the injury in Saturday’s game against Bath United and spent the night in Treliske undergoing examinations and waiting for a possible operation. However, the operation was not necessary and Sam is now recovering but in plaster for about 4 weeks. We all wish him a speedy recovery and an early return to playing
