The Membership and Reunion evening on Thursday proved a tremendous success once again. Over 130 members attended, food and drink aplenty was consumed, and everyone as one cannot wait for 3pm on September 3rd to come round.
Derek Collins and Ron Spencer spoke briefly in thanking everyone for their efforts last season. Derek was presented with a plaque from the Kerrier Chairman celebrating the Clubs promotion to National League Two, and then it was all eyes on team manager David Penberthy to look into his now famous crystal ball. As well as a brief review of the last twelve months, he looked forward to what will undoubtedly be a very different campaign to the last one.
Remarking how much the Club’s youth policy reaped huge dividends last season, and how well the new faces are blending in thus far, the captive audience learnt that Kiwi signing P.J.Gidlow will be with us next week, and Dan Goodwin hopes to return for the big kick-off. Watch this space for other news !
David confirmed that the Reds will be entering the newly named Powergen National Trophy Cup competition in Round Four on October 15th. That means a free
weekend on October 1st, but with the excitement of the National One sides entering in Round Five, who knows, a home tie with Harlequins is still possible !
