U10s finish on a high

The Reds went to Bath to enjoy the day and experience.
Their first match was against Bath, didn`t they go for it,letting Bath know who
were the better team. The Reds scored first with excellent supportive play.
Then Bath equalised, but the Reds scored again to make it 10/5 at half time.
The second half saw Bath attack with everything they had, but the Reds defended
supperbly turning the half to score a breakaway try and end the game 15/5.What
Outstanding Play !

The next game was played without a break which took its toll as we were beaten
20/0 by Chippenham.

The last Game against Havant last years winners saw the Reds 20/0 down at halftime. The Reds then came alive again and scored twice before the end, final score 25/10 .

I also heard several remarks on how smart the Redruth mini section looked in
their shirts and ties keep it up everybody

Basingstoke 19 Redruth 31

Posted under Match Reports by admin on Sunday 18 April 2004 at 12:00 am

Redruth had to work hard for this victory against a side, which performed well above their league position. Neil Corin opened the scoring with a well-taken try converted by Scott Martin. Redruth then relaxed and a mistake in the Redruth 22 resulted in Basingstoke retrieving the ball and Jim Dixon was driven over for the try, Ian Calder converting to level the score. Basingstoke had a good spell, their number eight Selwyn St.Bernard having some strong runs from the base of the scrum. Basingstoke used the strong wind to keep Redruth in their half and a catch from the lineout resulted in Neil Young being driven over for a try. The next try came after the lively Basingstoke scrum half Tom Vincent wriggled through the Redruth forwards to pass on to Jim Dixon again on hand to score the try Calder adding the extras, bringing the score to Basingstoke 19 Redruth 7. A fine try by Lewis Vinnecombe reduced the arrears to a halftime score of 19
