With arguably the two best sides in the County meeting at the semi final stage of the Cornwall Cup nerves were on edge for a place in the final. A week before the county championships Reds hosted a very strong Truro outfit. The game was played in a biting wind but both teams put on a great display of junior rugby.

I received this e-mail from a mini player which proves that kids to-day really do appreciate their coaches and it made me think if that is always the case?
Hi,
My name is Merlin Quinnan and I play for the under 12s.
We have just come back from a fantastic tour to Minehead.
We stayed at Butlins and ate too many burgers but had two great games losing
narrowly to Wivilescombe under 13s on a full size pitch on Saturday and
beating a big Minehead side on Sunday. Twenty boys toured with parents and

Redruth were again under pressure from the kick off Weston driving forward and after a scrum Redruth yielded a penalty in front of the posts Reid again adding the points. Redruth were now showing more composure and Scott Martin reduced the arrears with a penalty. It was Redruth

A terrific second half performance gave Redruth a well-deserved win against the League leaders. Redruth played up the slope against the wind in the first half and Blackheath were soon on the scoreboard when Derek Coates kicked a penalty. The Blackheath pack were giving Redruth a torrid time in the scrum and used the wind well in the first half but the stout defence restricted them to one try when scrum half Nick Maurer sneaked over after a particularly strong drive, Coates adding the extras. He also added another penalty before a Scott Martin penalty near halftime brought the score back to 3
