Reds consolidated 2 good recent performances with a comprehensive victory over St Austell.
Virtually the whole of the first half was played in opposition territory. Reds pack secured possession time and again but for the first 10 minutes good opportunities to open the scoring were not taken. St Austell defended their line with a great deal of bravery but the whole Reds team contributed as they scored 4 converted tries, making the score 28

The Pirates were this weeks opponents for the Reds at the Recreation Ground. With a change in coaching and some new signings the Pirates looked a completely different test than in past seasons. Redruth were without some key players, but were happy to see the return from injury for Richard Kevern and Ross Piekarz. Redruth took command of the game from the start winning the first scrum against the head. Despite playing a wide game the first try was from an ever-improving Ben Noyce who used power and pace to cross the Pirates line after 4 minutes. Redruth opened the scoring early when Marc Harper was driven over the line following a lineout, Scott Martin adding a good conversion. Ian Hambly then took the ball well coming into the line and scored under the posts, Martin again adding the extras. Old Patesians came into the game more and showed their strength in the scrum. Neil Corin again showed in the lineouts and around the field. Nathan Pryor was given a yellow card just before halftime, the score being 14

The first half was a tight affair between two evenly matched sides.
Redruth, who had done the double over their hosts last year contested well and it was 28 minutes before Walsham broke the deadlock with full back Chris Borrett finding a way through the Redruth defence for a try which Matt Holmes converted. Redruth hit back with a penalty from the prolific boot of Scott Martin and the break came with the Vikings 4 points in front.
Walsham came out strongly in the second half and took just three minutes to score their second try, which was converted to give them a 14-3 lead. Walsham added a penalty 4 minutes later. Redruth fought hard to stay in the game but it was the home side who managed to cross again for a try which was converted. Redruth did not give up and Ian Hambly went over 6 minutes from time for a consolation try which was unconverted.
