Playing down the slope against a strong wind Redruth defended well in the first half. Tabard used this wind to keep Redruth in their half for long periods and scrum half Micky Skinner put over two penalties before Bede Brown kicked one for Redruth. As the half drew to a close good driving by the Redruth forwards led to the ball being moved along the line for Nathan Pedley to score in the corner putting the home side in the lead. Tabard though finished the half with a third penalty for Skinner. Half-time score Redruth 8 Tabard 9.

This young squad continued its run of improved form this Sunday in a game which they dominated for almost its duration. As seems to be the current trend they conceded an early try and then changed up a gear. Liskeard were a tidy side but not given the opportunity to run the ball and this led to their defeat.
The first try for Redruth came from Matt smith 8 minutes in and was quickly followed by another for the in form Jon Drew with the final 1st half try being awarded to Jordan Datson following a penalty close to the Liskeard line.
3 Minutes into the 2nd half and Jordan Datson created a big hole in the liskeard defence and linked with Matt Smith to create his 2nd try for the
day. Liskeard tried to respond and scored again but Redruth had it under control and put Tom Olds over in response followed by Tom Selwood who broke away from recycled scrummage ball in his own half and scored after after running almost the full length of the pitch and beating several liskeard players in the process.
Redruth used this opportunity to field a couple of 1st team debutants so well done to Connor Lean who came on in the 2nd half and to Jack Churcher who made the starting line up.
Unfortunately with the cold and limited numbers Liskeard were unable to play a 3rd period therefore not all the squad got an opportunity to play however I

The game played at Redruth
Being short of match practice and following several bouts of sickness today
A superb first half performance of running rugby and stout defence laid the foundations of this memorable win in front of a four figure crowd. Bede Brown opened the scoring with a penalty and this was followed by a try for Nathan Pedley. Neil Corin took good lineout ball and impressed with his all round play capped by a try on the half hour. As the half drew to a close John Navin, who gave another tireless performance, scored the try which gave the Reds a 20
