Redruth Under 12′s versus Launceston 12′s

Posted under Under 12's by admin on Monday 16 December 2002 at 12:00 am

1st game. After a weather affected 2002 fixture list Redruth under 12′s were
pleased to welcome Launceston on another wet Sunday. Conditions for this
match were less than idea, but you can be assured of some good rugby from
both of these teams. Redruth opened the scoring with their man of the match
Richard Kevern. They soon went 14 points up when Matt Hopley crashed over in
the corner. Launceston struck back with a try from Deklan Marshall. Redruth
scored two more first half tries through Adam Lewarne and Richard Kevern,
Kevern converting all tries to make the turn around score 24-7. The second
half saw Launceston bring the game to the Reds, scoring through Rupert
Freestone. Redruth regrouped with the pack winning a tough up front battle.
Richard Kevern went over again to give the Reds breathing space. Launceston
kept up the pressure to score 2 more tries through Freestone and Ben Harris.
But the last honours went deservedly to the Reds with new boy Danny Dunstan
finishing off a fine performance. Second half conversions for the Reds from
Will Pearce, Craig Johnson and Kevern. All Launceston conversion came from
Ben Hawk. Final score Redruth 40 Launceston 28.

With both sides having large squads a second game could be played. Redruth
ran out 26-0 winners with tries from Richard Kevern, Ross Piekarz (2) and
Sam Newman. Conversion by Matt Cottle, Will Pearce and Tom Simmons. Redruths
next game is against Devonport on January 12th.
