BEDE BROWN RETURNS TO THE REDS

Bede Brown, who played fly-half for Redruth during 2000/2001, has signed for “The Reds” for next season. Bede, an outstanding number 10, who has played for Cornwall and has represented the South Island Maoris in a New Zealand Maori trial, will add considerable strength to Redruth’s back line next term.

Commenting on his return to Redruth Bede says, “You can count on me to fully support James (Lancaster) and the rest of the coaching team. As the team play maker I indeed hope to have a close and productive relationship with all the coaches.”

Bede’s presence in “The Reds” line up next season will assist the club in ensuring that it has a good balance between overseas and local experienced players to support the wealth of young talent emerging at Redruth who have recently won the County Colts Championship for a record five successive seasons.

COACHING CHANGES AT REDRUTH RFC

Posted under Senior Rugby News by admin on Wednesday 1 May 2002 at 12:00 am

For the past season Barry Trevaskis has coached Redruth RFC on a voluntary
basis having resigned from his paid coaching position in April last year.

During the three seasons that he has been with Redruth RFC he has shown
considerable commitment for which the club has been most grateful,
particularly as he lives an hour away from Redruth and has a job in Plymouth
that requires him to work long hours.

However, in the light of recent results and a clear difference in outlook
that has become increasingly apparent, it has been decided that it is in the
best interests of Redruth RFC and of Barry Trevaskis to draw to an end
Barry’s involvement with coaching the 1st XV.

James Lancaster has been appointed Player/Coach for next season. Active
consideration is being given to backup coaching arrangements including that
needed to support a “Development 2nd XV” aimed at encouraging the
considerable pool of young talent which the club has a proud record of
nurturing. The club also believes that support for players from the local
area should be an important part of its overall approach to securing
success.
