Redruth 11 Launceston 62

This was a powerful performance from a Launceston side who now head to deserved play off for promotion. Launceston meant business right from the start and opened with a try by Dave Ugelow followed by Ian Goldsmith before Steve Larkins kicked a penalty for Redruth. Further tries for Launceston were scored by Ugelow, Goldsmith, Mark Fatialofa and a penalty try, Barney Vorster kicking four convertions and a penalty to take the half-time score to 8 – 41.

Redruth played better in the second half and were rewarded with a try by Craig Bonds who collected a loose ball in his own 22 and outpaced the defence, Larkins converting. Redruth competed well at times but tries were scored for Launceston by Fatialofa again, Andy Birkett and Matt Trinder, Vorster converting all three. Although there were some good individual performances by Redruth they lacked the team work shown by Launceston.

Presentations were made before the match to Andy Hawken making his 300th First Team appearance for the Club and to James Lancaster selected as the Supporters Player of the Season.
