A minutes silence was held before this game in Memory of John Penberthy who passed away on Friday. John a Life Member, served the Club for over 30 years and held the posts of President, and Secretary as well as acting as County Representative, he also he cared for the grounds as though they were his own. John will be sorely missed by those who new him throughout the County. The Funeral is on Friday 26th October, 11am at the Wesley Methodist Chapel, Redruth.
This was an entertaining game held in the warm afternoon sunshine with the lead changing hands seven times. North Walsham opened the scoring with a penalty and Redruth responded with a try by Steve Larkins after a penalty attempt had hit the upright. Steve Larkins increased the lead with a penalty. There was no further score in this half although both sides exerted pressure without breaking through the defence. Half-time score 8 – 3.
Larkins opened the second half with a penalty, this was shortly followed by a North Walsham Try and Conversion, Larkins hit back with another penalty. Ten minutes later North Walsham scored another penalty, this was followed by a break from the Redruth half which was finished off by a Mathew Gray try, score 19 – 16.
North Walsham attacked immediately from the kick off and scored a try which was converted. Redruth attacked repeatedly but were unable to score and North Walsham finished with a penalty on the whistle. Final Score Redruth 19 North Walsham 26.
