An un-seasonaly warm and sunny sunday (who's complaining!) saw us welcome Newquay to the Recreation Ground.
The Destroyers (Under 7’s) kicked us off with an amazingly improved performance. Against a mixed 7’s and 8’s Newquay team they did everything right. I think the final score of 5 tries apiece was a great result. These players are coming on in leaps and bounds now - keep up the good work.
Next up were The Warriors who seem to have been a bit hungover from their Aggie Tigers match. Although they played well, there were a lot of silly mistakes such as running into touch and passing forwards. That being said, Newquay were a tidy outfit and a couple of their players really excelled. Newquay came out winners by 8 tries to 5.
Last on the field were The Samurais. To be honest, the scoreline flattered us a bit. We had players offside, runnng behind their team and knocking-on throughout the match. We probably lost seven or eight scores because of silly mistakes. However, when we did get things right we were very good indeed and Newquay didn’t get a look in. Final score Samurais 5, Newquay 2.
All in all though, three entertaining games. Both the Redruth and Newquay supporters agreed that the players performed extremely well and gave 100% - Well done everyone.
Thanks to Newquay for giving us such good games. There are some really good players in their squad. Also, a special thank you to the young lady in the Newquay under 8’s team who said that she thought I was a very fair referee!
Keep up the good work Reds as next Sunday you will have to have your wits about you. We are playing Camborne at HOME. 10.30 start. Unfortunately I am away, so any queries get in touch with Roger. Will be in touch on sunday though, so I hope to hear of a good result. Good Luck!.

Redruth Warriors v Aggie Tigers
What a pleasure to be involved on such an amazing day at the Recreation Ground last saturday. Aside of the main fixture however, it was great to welcome Aggie Tigers back for our half-time game.
I don’t think anyone there on Saturday could deny the entertainment value that these youngsters gave us. From the off, there were some good runs, good passes and even a couple of heroic bursts the full length of the pitch.
With the crowd behind them all the way the Warriors and Tigers played their hearts out with neither team really gaining the upper hand. It was only right at the end, after a small error on the part of the Warriors that the Tigers grabbed a fantastic winning try.
Each one of the Tigers earned their stripes (sorry!) during the game as they finished the winners by five tries to four.
Thanks to Stewart & Co at the Aggies, The Warriors and their parents, Simon and Dean (sounds like an ice skating pair!), Dave Penberthy for the presentation and to all at Redruth Rugby for their continued support.

Don’t forget, on March 3rd (Redruth v Nuneaton) it will be Redruth Samurais v Truro at half-time. We look forward to your most vocal support! Andy

Redruth 38 Newquay 14
In a tough encounter Redruth came out on top by six tries to two on Sunday against a good Newquay side. Redruth started the better and soon were two tries up with Alex Burke and Dirk Moodie touching down. Steve Trenoweth and Dan Eathorne converting. Two more unconverted tries by George Currie and Chris Beazley gave the Reds a comfortable 24-0 lead, but Newquay scored just before and after half time to bring the score back to 24 -14.
The Reds lost their shape for a while and some poor handling kept giving Newquay the initiative. After some stern words from the sidelines, the boys came back well and scored two more tries in the last ten minutes through Jake Rayment and Daniel Eathorne, Steve Trenoweth converted both to make the final score 38 - 14.
The team played well in parts today, but we need to be more consistent throughout our matches and not get complacent. We look forward to hosting our local derby next week against Camborne.
Also. Thanks to all the crowd at Saturday's home game, who gave to our under 12's tour collection. It was very much appreciated

The under 10’s travelled all the way to Tiverton on Saturday to play against counterparts. The Reds took a total of 13 out of the 18 available lads away for the game.

Before the game the two captains exchanged crests, this was Perran Jose for the Reds and his cousin Matthew Rowe for Tiverton. This also gave a chance for John and Margery Rowe to watch two of their grandchildren play rugby against one another for the first time.
It was an excellent game of rugby with the Tiverton side having one of the fastest 9/10 year old boys I’ve ever seen, with this lad being the difference between the teams, (we just couldn’t catch him).
The Reds soon found themselves 10-0 down, however Kiwi produced some strong running to pull back a try. Tiverton scored another two tries to pull further away. Jack darted over for the Reds to reduce the arrears, before Kiwi stole in for his second try of the afternoon.
Tiverton scored their fifth try of the afternoon. William Arnot showed that he to can run with a break up the touchline to dive over for a try in the corner, however this was the closest the Reds came to levelling the scores because Tiverton scored two quick tries.
The Reds scored the last try of the day with Kieren L going over. The Reds fitness start to tell and had there been another couple of minutes the Reds might off salvaged a late draw.
Final score Tiverton 35- Reds 25.
After the match the teams watched Tiverton v Bude (22-3), followed by the England game (sorry Bruce)!!!!!!
Redruth under 10’s would like to thank everyone at Tiverton RFC for making us feel so welcome and looking after us for the afternoon. Hopefully we’ll see you soon for a rematch.

I would like to say thank you to all the parents and kids for a very enjoyable day.Chris Jose

Redruth u 11's played Newquay at home where they won 14 -0.
Tt was a hard fought match, the opening try coming from Jordan Scarlett, who raced down the wing after a good set of ball handling skills from the 3/4 line. William Whitworth's conversion making it 7-0 .
Newquay came back and pressured the Reds but they held them out, with some great defence. After some time the Reds cleared with a kick out of there own in goal area. Jack Symons chased the kick and put Newquay under pressure. A Reds ruck ended in a fine forwards try. Brian Gillman Hill took the conversion to make it 14-0.
In the second half both teams played well to keep anyone from scoring .The lads enjoyed playing hard teams so they can see how they are progressing over the season and they can see where they need to improve.
Redruth u11's would like to thank Martin Weeks of Your Move Estate Agents for sponsoring there new waterproof jackets, also Alan & Mark Roberts of Portreath Garages for sponsoring the teams new look shorts.

Prior to the game the under 10’s were presented with some new training tops which had kindly been donated by Redruth Glass. In the picture the shirts are being presented to coach Chris Jose by Chris Gale of Redruth glass. The team would like to say thank you for the new shirts.
The team would also like to say thank to the following company’s in no particular order for the sponsorship of the under 10’s 2007 calendar:
Chris Phaby, Chris Thomas, Mitchell and Webber, Macs Fish Bar and Tony Houghton. Also many thanks to Rob for sorting out the calendars.
The under 10’s entertained Liskeard at the weekend on a dry sunny day in Redruth. The reds soon had a two try advantage thanks to some strong play by Kiwi who scored the first two tries. Jack then got in on the act scoring Redruth’s third try of the game. Liskeard then applied some pressure and a try was scored by a lad by the name of Ben, giving a half time score of 15-5.
After a number changes at half time to the Reds team the second half got with Josh getting two tries in succession. Kiwi then got his hat trick before Liskeard got a second try, again scored by Ben. Redruth finished of the scoring with a well taken try by Harry.
Well done to the lads for another good performance.

The Reds under 11s hero's with their new sponsored water proof tops and shorts.
With thanks to Alan Roberts Garage Portreath for the shorts and Your Move Redruth for the tops.
The Team were pictured before the game against Liskeard -Looe which they drew 7-7 with our try scored by Will Whitworth.
The second game ended in a comfortable victory for Liskeard but the team has changed during this season with several new players and we now have a large squad with lots of competition for places.

Redruth 42 & 0 Liskeard
And 36-5
Redruth got back to winning ways on Sunday with two wins against Liskeard. The team was on top form from the start, with some excellent rucking and mauling, finished off with some excellent back play. Liskeard never gave up and played some good rugby themselves, but the Reds were just too good on the day. In the first game tries were scored by Dirk Moodie, Ollie Bryant,Kieran Young,Ryan Thomas(2) and Boran Dickson. Converted by Steve Trenoweth and Ollie.
In the second game there were tries for Ollie Bryant,Kieran Young,George Currie, Kieran Trewin and an excellent debut try for Liam Andrew with conversions by Steve, Boran and Liam.
It was a good effort by the whole squad, which showed our strength in depth. We look forward to Newquay at home next week.

What a title.
An extra treat for The Samurais this week who were invited to play during half-time at The Cornish Pirates v Doncaster game. Our oponents were Truro. Not a lot I can say about the game to be honest. We played very well and Truro played even better. Generally we passed well, supported well and were strong on the ball. It was probably just a few bad individual decisions that let us down. Truro however were on fire! They did everything right, and helped along by a few inspired full pitch runs came out winners scoring 5 tries to our 4.
A special note of thanks to Jack Hitchens who captained the side despite being pretty unwell. He even managed to score a try!
Thanks to Phil Westren at The Pirates for the invite, Deano and James for their help, and all of the parents who came along in support. Thanks as well to our players. Hard luck - Truro were good, but we will be playing them at a half-time fixture in Redruth in the near future where I’m sure we can get our revenge. Keep up the hard work!
One thing I did notice was the apparent lack of atmosphere at the Pirates. So many people and so little noise. I think the Redruth supporters could teach them a thing or two. I’m sure they will all be vocally behind Redruth Warriors when we play Aggie Tigers at the Henley game!
See you on Saturday Andrew

First on the field were the ‘Destroyers’ (under 7’s), and they did exactly as their name suggests. I would like to say it was end to end stuff, but to be honest Liskeard never got a look in. Although we only played 7 minutes each way the final score read Redruth Destroyers 8 - Liskeard 0
As our visitors only had one under 8’s side we combined our Warriors and Samurais into one team - albeit with a lot of substitutions. This game was a lot more evenly balanced with Liskeard taking a deserved early lead. Honours were even at half but we pulled away towards the end with Redruth winning 8 tries to 5.
Well done everyone - a good week. Thanks to Liskeard for making the trip down via the numerous roadworks.
Next Saturday Redruth Warriors will be playing Aggie Tigers during half-time at the Reds v Henley fixture. This is a real ‘crunch’ game for The Reds so to all of our Minis, Mums, Dads, Grannies, Grandads or whoever!! come along and lend your support to The Reds - as well as our own minis of course.
Next Sunday is Newquay AT HOME.

On an exellent day for running Rugby, Redruth were slow to get into their stride, giving away a lot of unnecessary penalties in the first half. A depleted Camborne team (injuries and No-Show players) started well, showing the squad that turned up were not going to lie down with their legs in the air. Aaron Hancock made a good return for the Reds in his first full game this season. As the first half progressed Redruth started to click, and finished the first half 26 points up.
The Reds started the second half well, playing more as a team, saw them score another 24 points, without reply SCORERS ; James Williams, Lee Isaacs, Richard Kevern, Daniel Dunstan all scoring one try each. A Lewarne and S Newman two tries each, with five conversions by R Kevern.
For the Reds Sam Newman and Adam Lewarne were outstanding, the Reds coaches are more than happy with the progression of skill being taken from the training ground.
All credit to Camborne for their effort making a hard game for the Reds. All wish a speedy recovery to James (Camborne Full Back) who suffered collar bone damage, it looks likely he will be out for 6 weeks.
Finally a word of thanks to the Pirates who played Doncaster at the Rec yesterday. After our match we were all invited to see the match as guests of the Pirates, a tough match with a fair result going to the Pirates.
